Kanikapila: Conversations in Hawaiian Music
Kanikapila is a social activity where people come together to play and enjoy music. Kanikapila happens everywhere in Hawaiʻi--backyard bbqʻs, celebrations, as well as formal and informal gatherings. Where there are people, there is music! In Hawaiʻi, itʻs a wonderful way for family, friends, and communities to connect and create a sense of belonging through the familiar sounds of music heard through generations.

We welcome and invite you to come join us to meet new friends and immerse yourself in the culture of Hawaiʻi through some popular favorite and beloved classic melodies. Weʻll talk about the enduring stories behind the songs and learn Hawaiian language by singing in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi.

Have never played ʻukulele before? No worries! This friendly gathering will give you the basics and fundamentals to get you started and continue to build your own repertoire with the group. We hope to be able to present what we learned in a special event in Spring Term 2023.
